Gaslamp Pet Parade
OVERVIEW
This holiday pet parade, hosted by the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego, was the first event I managed as a full-time event producer. I was hired in late October, the event was in December, and the only thing that had really been done up to that point was getting the permit to close the streets. My two (also newly-hired) coworkers and I battled our panic and lack of precedence, and ended up with the most participants, the most media coverage, and the highest audience turnout of the event’s 16 year run! This taught me skills like signage production, budget management, sponsor management, and tactical media planning.
